Talkin' Texan

On our way to church this morning, Genie noticed that we drive by a "cowboy church" nearly every day. It's in a warehouse on the main "thoroughfare" (read: long 35-MPH road with nothing on it) that leads from our housing development to the rest of the world. We started speculating what kinds of things would be shared from the pulpit of a "cowboy church", and decided it was best to begin with the cowboy version of the Ten Commandments. I swear that these are coming strictly from Genie and I...nobody else is to blamed for what is to follow:

1. Y'all shouldn't be goin' after them other gods, y'hear?
2. Y'all should like me more'n yer horse, yer truck, or yer dog.
3. Don't y'all be talkin' trash 'bout me!
4. Y'all come to my place on Sundays. Nowheres else, now!
5. Mind yer ma 'n' pa.
6. Yer gun is fer deer 'n' possum, not people. Got it?
7. I don't care wachyer wife did. Don't go messin' 'round!
8. Y'all kin borrow, but ya gotta give it back.
9. No lyin'...period!
10. Ya git watcha git 'n' ya don't throw no fits.

Every once in a while our presence in Texas affects us in odd ways, and something will emerge from our mouths that's quite shocking (hear the British accent on that last bit?) Mine (Justin's) today came when I was answering Genie's question about whether or not some of our friends had any new blog posts. The words got tumbled up in my mind, and came out of my mouth as, "There don't got none!"

We'll end this with a picture of E. from the recent Larsen family reunion, after she lost her second top-center tooth.

By the way...welcome back to our blog. :)
